Floyd Medical Center is working to advise medical staff and clinical providers on the screening, testing and management of patients suspected of having the H1N1 “swine flu.” Floyd is also closely monitoring developments related to the swine flu virus in cooperation with the Georgia Division of Public Health and local municipal authorities.
Floyd has been heavily involved in the development of regional pandemic flu plans with local government agencies and first responders. Floyd has also developed and tested internal strategies to arrange for the care of individuals in the community who are diagnosed with the swine flu virus and require inpatient care.
Floyd encourages everyone to follow the guidelines set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to avoid transfer of the virus, including frequent hand washing, covering one’s cough and avoiding other individuals who exhibit symptoms of the virus.
